Second Life - Monogram Virtua's Cyber Convention Center Brings Together Automotive and Avionics Enthusiasts From Around the Globe in Cyberspace

Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) March 14, 2008 -- Inside Second Life (http://www.secondlife.com), Monogram Virtua Entertainment (http://www.monogramvirtua.com) is proud to launch the Monogram Virtua Convention Center with its first annual Second Life Auto Show. Hundreds of auto enthusiasts from both cyber and real worlds are set to arrive in Second Life March 15-16 to see both the fantastic and the practical in cyberworld automotive and aeronautic innovation at what portends to be the largest auto and air show to date in cyberspace. The auto show opens at 2PM Pacific Time on March 15th at the convention center on Monogram Tria (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Monogram%20Tria/198/128/22) where co-founder and filmmaker Randall K. Rubin (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1371900/) (SL name Dubble Rokocoko) and digital concept consultant Harold Whaley (http://www.linkedin.com/in/hwhaley) (SL name Hdub Shepherd) will speak at the opening ceremonies. Suku Ming, head of SLASCAR, a Second Life spin on the NASCAR racing organization, will speak as well. Attendees are invited to join the Monogram Virtua Auto Show Group for free to gain access to the show where scores of virtual and real life cars and planes will be on display to the general public. A limited number of press passes will be available.

This is Monogram Virtua's second virtual event in a series of aficionado based cyberworld shows designed to bring the members of various Second Life communities together. Rubin, an avid filmmaker and lover of art, and Whaley, an automotive and music enthusiast, came up with idea for the event series after the phenomenal success of the movie premiere of JIMMY AND JUDY (http://www.jimmyandjudymovie.com), directed and produced by Rubin, drove huge levels of cyber traffic to Monogramia Prime (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Monogramia%20Prime/18/120/22), the company's flagship island. While in the cyberworld Whaley had organized into his group of Second Life constituents a long list of fellow automotive and avionics lovers and, though previously there were various groups and loosely connected organizations, there had not been a single over-reaching inspired event designed to bring the entire community together. The First Annual Second Life Auto Show is designed to be just that, an event to bring auto lovers from both inside and outside Second Life together from all over the world.

Monogram Virtua's chief event director Andrea McCloud (SL name Anakalia Catteneo) informed thousands of Second Life car builders, designers, owners of real life and virtual dealerships, scripters, pilots, drivers, racers, and promoters, and received enthusiastic responses from hundreds of SL members who are expected to arrive in cyberspace to interact and share their knowledge over the course of the two day event without ever having to leave the comfort of their laptops and PC's.

Future events are currently underway, and the company has already been in discussions with Ariel Zuñiga, son of the late twentieth century contemporary Mexican artist Francisco Zuñiga (http://www.franciscozuniga.org/), to host an International Art Summit at the convention center in mid April. Monogram Virtua has already been dubbed the official cyberworld representative in Second Life and elsewhere for Zuñiga's work and has begun construction of a gallery on Monogramia Prime next to the Monogram Virtua Flagship Theater that hosted the film premiere earlier in 2008.

Invitations have gone out to Real Life keynote figures in other communities. Bruce George, co-founder of Def Poetry Jam, Lee Green, Chairman of the National Black Business Trade Association, and Arthur Mitchell, V.P. of Business Development for The Urban Network are already in talks with the company to host Second Life versions of well established Real Life trade events at the Monogram Virtua Convention Center. A nearby shopping mall is also in the works set to be ready this Spring offering turnkey solutions to Second Life newcomers interested in starting their own lucrative cyber businesses.

Key contributors to the First Annual Second Life Auto show are: Virtual Brickworks (designer/builder of the Monogram Virtua Convention Center); XenoX & Aeon Snook (owners of SnookTown; Eddie Mathieson, Attim Hokkigai, JR Robson, Ish Jaxxon, Loreli Debevec, Whispering Hush and Jen Lighfoot (owners and staff of Racers Island; and Lil Carducci (designer of the Monogram Virtua Tennis Shoe).
